Located between Summer Street and Ocean Street, the estate has three houses that are a stroll away from scenic Ocean Street with two beautiful public beaches. Drive or bike only two miles into downtown Manchester for shops, restaurants and more shoreline scenes. Gloucester and more of Cape Ann are short drives away with plenty of summer fun and sights!
Within the estate, there’s so much to explore: Roam the 40 acres of woodland paths, swim at the bathing rocks, use the stand-up paddle boards, play tennis or relax at one of our three historic homes.
Weekly rentals run Friday to Friday through the Summer
The Stone House
The Stone House was the first house built in 1869 as a summer vacation home for the Curtis family. Prepare to step back in time in this 155 year old house. At your disposal is 10 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, three receptions rooms, dining on the deck and plenty of space to spread out.
Get lost in all of the details that this 1869 home has to offer. From John Hancock’s salvaged staircase banister, stunning original woodwork and endless preserved details of the Curtis family’s summer estate, there is no shortage of treasures to be found.

The Red Cottage
The Red Cottage is more than a cottage - it’s actually a six bedroom home with five bathrooms, living room, dining room and eat-in kitchen! Plenty of room to entertain and house big families. The best part is the large porch across the front of the house overlooking the ocean with a dining area, comfy outdoor furniture and swinging bench. Around back is a big back yard for all the lawn games and tag you want.
THe Barr House
The Barr House is a compact, two bedroom contemporary home, very different from the other houses here at Sharksmouth! A great little getaway, which offers floor to ceiling glass walls looking over the ocean. The house is fully furnished with two bedrooms, one and half bathrooms, a large living/dining area with a fireplace, and a fully equipped kitchen, for all your cooking needs - even a grill for summer BBQ off the deck!
Winter Rentals
Both the Red Cottage and the Barr House are rented for 9 months as winter rental homes. The houses stay furnished for everyone's convenience and comfort. Spend the cooler months at Sharksmouth starting with beautiful late Summer weather and a whole estate full of leaf peeping in October. When the leaves drop, enjoy a crisp New England winter, cozying up near the fireplace or warming up with brisk walks throughout the property. Then when spring sprouts, watch the estate come alive with greenery, flowers and bird songs! All year round, the ocean is always present, peaceful and yours in sight.
